Hey, anyone have any experience returning cymbals to Zildjian? I have a ping ride, probably 10 years old, with a crack that I'm thinking about returning (with a well-worded letter explaining that the crack seems to be a manufacturer's defect, etc.). Think they'll take it back?

Thanks! The cymbal cracked in kind of a weird place--about three quarters of the way in. I'll keep you posted...

Doubtful, it IS 10 years old. I think they only have a one year warranty.

You may be able to get Zildjian to do something for you. A bit of persistence may be required, though.
They replaced a 16" K crash for me about five years ago (the cymbal was about 7 years old at the time). I didn't have the receipt any longer.
Initially, I sent it back with a letter explaining how well I took care of it, that a metal worker inspected it and told me it cracked because it wasn't tempered evenly, etc. They sent it back to me saying they could not do anything for me (it was too old, had an obsolete logo, etc.)
I then called and talked to a customer service rep, and he said he would take care of it for me if I sent it back a second time. Sure enough, they did!
Good luck!
